Africa’s first electric bus plant set to industrialise Uganda

State-owned Kiira Motors Corp. plans to have an initial manufacturing capacity of 5,000 vehicles per year, including buses, starting in July 2021. According to Kiira officials, the company is at an advanced stage of signing contracts and is in talks with several clients. Kiira has already produced prototypes for a five-seater car and an electric bus that charged itself in real time through solar panels mounted on its roof.
