The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) continues to play a vital role in promoting international academic collaboration through its Conference Travel Program. Funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, this program supports doctoral researchers and doctoral students who wish to actively participate in international scientific congresses and conferences — either in-person or online.

However, as of September 2025, applications for funding category 4 (long-haul travel) have exceeded the available funding capacity and are temporarily closed for travel months up to February 2026. Applications for categories 1–3 remain open and are still being accepted.

The program is open to doctoral researchers and doctoral students from all disciplines who are planning to present their research findings at recognized international conferences. Applicants must provide evidence of active participation and meet the requirements detailed in the DAAD’s application guidelines.
