Mozambique consulting IMF on economic reform, no loans on agenda

Mozambique, cut off from multilateral donors, has said it is working with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to bring economic reforms and transparency in an effort to rebuild credibility after a debt scandal, but no loans are promised.

“The IMF is not giving loans but they are helping in programs for macroeconomic stability, those measures that will attract investors to come to the country,” President Filipe Nyusi told Reuters in an interview on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York.
